If the volume icon in the taskbar in Windows has an error icon and on hover over shows the message, ‘The audio service is not running’, the issue is easy to fix. The reason for the issue could be a faulty audio driver or security software you’ve installed.
Generally, then clicking on the volume icon opens the Audio troubleshooter, performs various checks, including that of audio service status and resolves the issue automatically for you. If you’re having this issue, you don’t need to choose anything in the wizard.

Have had this as well. Its random and happens post a start/re-start of the system. And my system has Kaspersky installed as well since last year, just in line with when i started to notice this.
Its annoying but not a major issue.
Have you ran the audio troubleshooter? Does the issue persists now with Kaspersky installed?
Yes troubleshooter resolves it right away.
I still have Kaspersky Total Security installed, although this audio issue is very random. It doesn’t come up on all starts. There is no pattern to it.
