Microsoft blocks Windows 10 November 2019 Update on certain devices due to old Realtek Bluetooth Radio drivers

If you’re using older versions of Realtek Bluetooth Radio on your computer and if now you try to update to Windows 10 November 2019 Update version 1909,  Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903 or Windows 10 October 2018 Update version 1809, you may receive an error message by saying: “Realtek Bluetooth: Your PC has a driver or service that isn’t ready for this version of Windows 10. A new version is available “. You’ll be provided options to back and Refresh.

Windows 10 1909 and 1903 Setup Realtek Bluetooth error

Windows 10 November 2019 Update version 1909 is already available to users via Windows Update if they manually check for updates and they can also download the media creation tool and update to the latest Windows 10 version 1909. Microsoft has now put “compatibility hold” on certain devices that have old driver versions of Realtek Bluetooth radio installed from installing Windows 10 1909 and Windows 10 1903.

Microsoft says they have “identified compatibility issues with some drivers versions of Bluetooth Radios made by Realtek” and is asking users to update Realtek Bluetooth driver version to 1.5.1.012 or later to get rid of compatibility hold by set by them on their devices.

To safeguard your update experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on devices with affected driver versions for Realtek Bluetooth radios from installing Windows 10, version 1909 or Windows 10, version 1903 until the driver has been updated.

The company suggests to check for updates for Realtek Bluetooth drivers and install,  if available. After that, they can able to install Windows 10 1909 or Windows 1903 by checking for updates again in Windows Update, if offered.
