With Sync feature in Firefox, you can able to access your bookmarks, tabs, history and passwords on multiple devices. To use Firefox Sync, you need to sign into Firefox account. If you’re using the Firefox browser on only one device, then you may not need Sync. Upcoming Firefox 60, which has moved Cookie Settings into Site data section and allows to open address bar results in a new tab,, offers a hidden preference in about:config to completely disable Sync and Firefox Account.
What this means is when you toggle this preference, ‘Sign in to Sync’ item in the menu, and the ‘Firefox Account’ section in the preferences will be removed from Firefox browser and won’t appear unless you change that preference value to true.
Disable Firefox Sync in Firefox 60
1. Visit about:config
2. Create a new Boolean preference called identity.fxaccounts.enabled and set its value to false.
3. Now when you head over to options, Firefox Account section will no longer be displayed and also the ‘sign into Sync item’ in the menu. [Thanks Soeren].
