Creating a New Profile for Google Chrome on Windows is Easy

A browser profile contains all important data such as bookmarks, extensions, passwords and other user data and it is stored in a separate folder from browser installed directory. This profile folder won’t gets deleted when you uninstall browser. A corrupted browser profile means, your browser may not able to start properly and then creating new profile is the solution at that time. Fortunately, creating new user profile for Google chrome is an easy task,  here is how to do that.

Creating new Google Chrome Profile

1. Make sure you’ve closed Chrome and its background pages or apps.

2.  Open Run command and type the following command according to Windows OS you’re using

For Windows XP

USERPROFILE%Local SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeUser Data

For Windows Vista/7/8/8.1

%LOCALAPPDATA%GoogleChromeUser Data

3. Rename “Default” folder to “Old profile”.

4. Now open Google Chrome, a new profile folder for browser will be automatically created with name “Default” .

Recovering bookmarks for a corrupted profile or moving bookmarks from old profile to new one

You might want to transfer Chrome bookmarks in old profile, for that copy bookmarks.bak in old profile folder to new profile and rename it to bookmarks.
