Animated Themes causing high memory usage in Firefox
Animated themes have been reported to cause performance issues, and the latest version has a high memory usage problem with them.
The issue is a regression from a resolved bug, where compositor CSS animations keep being sampled in fully occluded windows.
According to Mozilla, the issue occurs when users have animated themes, and one window is occluded or minimized, causing the memory leak to happen until the window is painted.
The company has patched Nightly and other pre-release channels, and the 112.0.2 update will address the issue in the release version.
Users who use animated themes should install this update as soon as it is offered.
Firefox 112.0.2 will also fix another bug where images were not shown on Windows 8.1 toast notifications, as well as a problem where Linux users with Bitmap fonts installed may have had entire sections of text visible to them on some sites
