How to Hide Twitter’s “What’s happening”& “Who to Follow” Suggestions

Last updated on July 4, 2022 By Venkat

Based on the people you follow and your location, Twitter shows former trends or Trending Topics and suggestions to you. These are personalized and tailored to you. Let us see how to hide or block “What’s happening” and “Who to follow” Suggestion Sections on the right sidebar on Twitter (web) more easily.

It’s worth noting that Twitter itself doesn’t let you disable or turn off these on the right sidebar

Before, old Twitter allowed us to block “Who to Follow” and Trends without affecting the search bar by using the UBlock Origin extension’s “Block element” feature. New Twitter, no longer supports this.

We still trying to figure out how we can use Twitter regularly without distractions, we’ve covered an extension that keeps the search bar and hides suggestions and trends on the right sidebar. But, we don’t like the Dim theme and the extension, however, works best only when used with that background.

If you’re using Ublock Origin in Chrome or Firefox or Vivaldi browser or Chromium Edge, you can disable these annoying sections.

How to hide Twitter’s “What’s happening” and Who to follow Suggestions

  1. Download and Install the Ublock Origin extension from Chrome Web Store or Mozilla Add-ons Store in Chrome or Firefox
  2.  Click on the UBO icon on the toolbar
  3. Click on the three gears icon to “open the dashboard“
  4.  Click on “My Filters“, paste the following and click “Apply changes“.

twitter.com##[aria-label$="trending now" i]
twitter.com##[aria-label="who to follow" i]
twitter\.com##[aria-labelledby="accessible-list-0"]:nth-ancestor(3) ~ *
twitter.com##.r-1w50u8q.r-1j3t67a.r-1h0z5md.r-1w6e6rj.r-18u37iz.css-1dbjc4n
twitter.com##.r-1udh08x.r-1bro5k0.r-ku1wi2.r-rs99b7.r-1phboty.r-t23y2h.r-9cbz99.r-1u4rsef.css-1dbjc4n

Now visit the Twitter website in the browser, and ensure, you’re already signed into it to spot the changes.

The filter may work with any ad blocking extension. If you’re using an ad blocker and found this post helpful, please do us a favor by whitelisting us.

Final words: You can hide or remove Twitter’s what’s happening and Who to follow sections on the right sidebar.
