
Microsoft has promised it will port most of the PDF features from Edge Legacy to the new Edge based on Chromium. It did to the most extent. Another new feature, this time, the option to search through the entire PDF document has been added to the new Edge browser.
Recently, the new Edge got the ability to view PDF in Two Page layout. Following that and other PDF features, Microsoft brought the Search function to Edge Canary for PDFs.
Till now, to find something in a PDF document on Edge browser, you need to press Ctrl+F. The find in Page browser option works for PDFs as well for web pages and finds and highlights what you’re looking for by searching through the entire PDF document.
Edge Chromium adds Search function for PDFs
To the latest, Edge PDF Viewer received a search icon, which also does the same.
To get started,
- Launch Edge browser
- Load a PDF from your computer or browse and open one from Web
- Click on the Search icon on the toolbar at the top and type keyword in the Find bar and press enter.
Microsoft now testing a new animation for the Edge Immersive Reader icon.
To enable animated icon for Immersive Reader in Edge browser
- Launch Edge browser
- Visit edge://flags
- Search for ” immersive Reader Icon animation experiment”
- Select “Enabled”
- Restart browser
Visit any reader-friendly webpage to notice an immersive Reader icon appearing in the address bar in an animated fashion.
