Opera software has released 12.12 version of Opera for Windows, Mac and Linux and available for download from its official website. Opera 12.12 is recommended security and stability update where lot of bugs that makes the browser unstable have been fixed.
What’s changed in Opera 12.12 and the new features
SPDY for Opera turbo is enabled by default, it needs to be seen that does adds to faster loading of SPDY enabled sites for slower connections when Opera turbo is turned on.
Delete private data dialog has been redesigned to fit it on smaller screens, and new option “ delete settings and data for all extensions” has been added to this dialog which is not checked by default though.
Another stability issue has been fixed “where quitting Opera while in fullscreen mode could cripple the interface on the next start-up”
Security-wide below issues have been addressed.
- Malformed GIF images could allow execution of arbitrary code.
- Repeated attempts to access a target site could trigger address field spoofing.

The ‘delete settings and data for all extensions’ is clearly a response to the problem with 12.11 where deleting private data (the persistent storage bit) would reset all extensions. It’s good that Opera are listening to some of the criticism although not good that 12.11 that was considered a stable release had so many bugs in it. So far 12.12 works well for me although the age old problem of some site incompatibility still exists.
