Google to remove background images feature on its homepage on November 16, 2012. Classic Plus is a Google Search feature which you may’ve never heard off, but you already knew this feature if feature name not taken into consideration. Two years back Google started allowing users to personalize their homepage with custom background image that can be chosen from Computer, Picasa Album or Picasa public gallery.
And as part of Spring cleaning of Google products search giant already said they’ll ditch Classic Plus feature soon -“Users won’t be able to upload new pictures starting from October 16, and we’ll turn the service off in November 2012.’- what’s happening now! Google stared warning users about the same.
We don’t know the exact date then, but from Google web search help page on background images and warning received by users now its pretty clear that Google to turn off Custom background service on its homepage on November 16, 2012.
Meanwhile users using background images started to receive following warning (screenshot not available since am not using that feature)
“ Background images are going away on November 16, 2012
Thank you for using background images. As we build a more streamlined Google search page for everyone, we’ll no longer able to support customization with background images. So you’ll no longer able to see your background pictures starting November 16, 2012.
Click Remove to stop using a background image now. Your current background image and Picasa web albums will still be available to you.”
The images you uploaded won’t be lost they will continue to available in Picasa Web albums.
Since I’ve never used background image for Google homepage, some users getting annoyed with this? what do you say about this? share with us in comments.
Google!Stop this
i use background images and i love it!
Don’t remove it:(
You know I love my background. Please don’t make it disappear.
This is exactly the type of thing that makes me lose faith in a company.
imo, there’s no logical reason to remove the feature.
I know it seems harsh, but as difficult as it will be, I’m actually in the process of phasing out the use of Google.
I really like the backgrounds feature as I have 20/5 vision. To many, that would seem like excellent eyesight, and it is…
but not so much for bright lights.
There’s just too much white in the basic view of the Google homepage, so I change it.
Not only can I not view the page properly now, but I just hate with a passion when companies remove features. At least give us the option; more is always better.
To me, this move proves yet again that Google doesn’t care about what we think, or what’s best for our experience; they care about what’s best for them.
Yet despite their constant disregard for our concerns, we continue to stick by their side… well no more, not unless they start to act right.
