Avira has released its 2013 line of products, Avira Free antivirus 2013, Avira Antivirus premium 2013, Avira Internet Security 2013 with new features where Bowser Tracking Blocker, Website safety advisor, Social Networking Protection features are available in free version. Avira Protection cloud is currently available in paid versions, eventually it will be added to free version.
Express and Custom Installation types, which one to choose? Avira offers Express and Custom installation methods. By default with Express type Avira SearchFree toolbar will be installed for all browsers and search.Avira.com set as default provider, homepage and new tab page, you can opt-out of installing Avira toolbar by selecting custom install method.
Remember Browser Tracking Blocker and websites Safety advisor part of Avira SearchFree toolbar, if you don’t install this toolbar you won’t get them. That’s true user never likes to install toolbars for browsers, Avira and AVG reducing their user base badly with these crappy and annoying toolbars that crashes browsers.
Once the installation finishes you can configure Avira with the wizard. Avira offers two types of real-time protection start modes, Normal and Secure Start former is the recommended and default setting though secure start may load real-time protection early, better to with normal start.
User interface hasn’t changed from Avira 2012. Social Network Protection: few months back Avira acquired Socialshield which now has been incorporated into their free AV via a link on its UI on left-side with Social Networks name under Child Protection.

Website safety advisor built-into Avira toolbar shows safety ratings for websites and search results. And Browser Tracking Blocker automatically blocks companies which tracks you. social plugins, buttons and ad networks that were blocked shown with count on toolbar you can click on it to know the details.
