
Security vendor AVG yesterday released service pack 1 update for its AVG 2012 products which adds two features to protect users privacy: AVG Do-Not-Track and Wi-Fi guard. Both these features are available for AVG free users as well as AVG Antivirus and AVG Internet Security suit users of 2012. Where AVG Do-Not-Track is significant addition which alerts when trackers are detected on page, you can click on eye icon to know more details about tracking ad networks and their names. Wi-Fi Guard is suppose to protect from fake Wi-Fi Connections.
AVG Do-Not-Track to block Tracking ads
AVG Do-Not-Track add-on for browsers by default pre-configured to block some Ad networks. But the social buttons like Facebook, Twitter, and Google +1 and web analytics like Google Analytics are the ones not blocked by default, if wants user can block them from its settings/options.
This add-on automatically notifies web sites that user do not want to be tracked by using Do-Not-Track http header, still the whole web or web sites hasn’t adopted DNT. Only Firefox and Opera now supports DNT where Google already confirmed that they’ll add DNT support for Chrome in future.
AVG Wi -Fi Guard protects you from fake Wi-Fi connections
AVG Wi-Fi guard checks when you’re using public Wi-Fi networks and alerts you when you’re about to connect fake network of same name in a different location. You can download updated AVG 2012 from download.com.
