By default Windows allows to carry out Read & Write tasks to USB drives where there is a possibility of viruses in an USB drive entering into Your Computer and vice versa. Setting your USB drive for read-only mode makes it much harder for viruses to infect your Computer, of course data can’t be copied from your Computer to pen drive & vice versa, this is helpful and protects your data if you share your Computer with others.
Wenovo USB Disks Access Manager is freeware portable app lets you set your PC in read-only mode to access USB drive and also allows to disable USB drives detection.
All you need to do is select the desired option from the app UI, click on Apply button and unplug and re-plug your USB drive again for the changes to take effect.
If you’ve enabled “allow Read- only” option then whenever you try to copy data to pen drive you’ll get ‘disk is write protected, remove write protection or use another disk” warning . To revert back your USB drive to read & write mode, select that option on app UI and unplug and re-plug your USB drive for the changes to take effect, then you can start copying data from PC to pen drive.
USB Disks Access Manager works on Windows XP/Vista/7.
This is Useful ONLY on the PC, you tun the application.
If we connect this USB Wirte-Protected Flash Drive to another computer, This Application will not prevent anything being written to it.
What we need is an application which will enable Write-Protection of the Flash Drive across all PCs. No matter where the Flash Drive is connected, it should show-up as a read-only device only.
