Free Download Manager perhaps the best freeware download manager comes so close to IDM when comes to features, FDM offers simultaneous file downloads and supports Bit Torrent Protocol, by default supports downloads from IE and Firefox browsers but you need to integrate FDM into other browsers like Chrome, Opera and Safari manually. Today Free Download Manager 3.8 has been released with improvements .
We still get lot of comments that FDM integration with Chrome not working, this build definitely doesn’t disappoints you as FDM 3.8 now downloads files from Chrome browser after enabling it in Monitoring Section of Settings.
This version downloads flash videos from more web sites (for IE 6- 9, Firefox 3.5- 9), support for import of uTorrent and Orbit downloader downloads is added.
Flash Video monitoring for Google Chrome is added (you still need to enable it in Flash Video section in FDM settings) which doesn’t seem working, also remember “Download it” button only appears for flash videos loaded in IE and Firefox browsers only.
Other features are minor user interface improvements, updated torrents core library and better traffic allocation between active download manager.
FDM 3.8 works on all Windows .
Nope 3.8 STILL doesnt download files in chrome, when I click on download link it only downloads the .php and not the avi video file!!!!
Make sure Chrome is selected under Monitoring of FDM Settings, hope this should help.
