We’ve covered lot of apps and theme packs to bring Windows 8 interface and features to Windows 7, recently released Windows 8 Dev preview got Ribbon Explorer with most used commands for quick access, a developer released BExplorer aka Better Explorer freeware which brings Windows 8 Explorer with ribbon interface, tab functionality and glassy view features to Windows 7.
Using Better Explorer
This explorer doesn’t replace Windows 7 Explorer, but you can open BExplorer and view/experience Windows 8 Explorer features. Download and install Better Explorer in your Computer after that the program from the Start Menu.
Developer plans to add following features to Better Explorer
Adding tab functionality together with use of standard explorer browser control
Adding additional toolbars with more features like:
- Changing Library icons
- File operation with files and folders
- Synchronized command prompt
- Change of folder icons
- Extended Jump list support (Windows 7)
- Double panel explorer
- Extended search like extended search pane in Vista (Windows 7)
- Glassy view
Currently BExplorer in alpha stage offers tab functionality and glassy view for the Explorer.
