Stop Windows 7 from Showing “You have files waiting to be burned to Disc” Balloon on Startup

If you’re greeted with “you have files waiting to be burned to disc “ balloon on Windows 7 startup  from the notification area and clicking the balloon shows files ready to be written to Disc, it doesn’t get more annoying than this on every startup you’re welcomed with this one, here is how to get rid of it.

#1. Right-click on the CD/DVD drive and select “Delete temporary files”.

#2. Open Windows Explorer and set Windows to show hidden files and folders.

Now open Run dialog box and enter “%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary Burn Folder” without quotes and delete the files in that folder.

#3. Open Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in the Run command box

Navigate to User configuration > Administrative Templates > Select ‘All Settings’ on the left pane, and scroll down and double-click on Remove CD Burning features and select ‘disabled‘ option.

Click ‘OK’ to save changes and exit the Group Policy Editor.

    For some reason for me, my Temporary Burn Folders were hidden- You can solve that by going to the address described here, going up one folder, (Burn) and then…

    Right click>Properties

    Check box that says “hidden”, apply, and then do it again but this time uncheck “hidden”.

    That will make your Temporary Burn Folder(s) appear.

    C:\users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\windows\burn
