Norton Antivirus 12 and Norton Internet Security 5 for Mac OS X Lion Released (Public Beta)

Security vendor Symantec released first public beta version of Norton Internet Security 5 and Norton Antivirus 12 for Mac with new features and improvements. These products specially developed for Mac’s latest OS “Lion” and will be not be compatible with previous versions to Mac OS X 10.7, however Symantec including their Norton Antivirus 11 and Norton Internet Security 4 on their installer disk images for Mac users not using Lion.

Norton Internet Security 5 and Norton Antivirus 12 for Mac new features

Mount Scan: When you attach a hard drive or insert pen drive/ CD or DVD, files will be scanned only when you open them.

Idle Scanning:  When your Mac is idle Norton scans for threats and Schedule scan feature is removed. 

Faster Installation: Norton won’t downloads virus definitions and signature updates during product install, instead Norton installs them after Mac restart.

Other notable changes include -  addition of Norton Safe Web to the toolbar and removal of Confidential data protection and Scheduled scanning.
