Google integrating Google+ into their services such as Gmail, Google search, are Google+ notifications and its icons in Gmail, Google search global nav bar more of a distraction for you? if you say “yes” then here is Chrome extension BlockPlus blocks all references to Google+ from global nav bar in Google Chrome.
In Gmail new status bar on top and notifications can become distracting for you so as the Google+ icon in Google global nav bar.
BlockPlus removes Circles, Profile link, links to Google+ in the global nav bar and notifier also. This extension blocks http requests whenever you click Global nav bar.
I’ve had this extension installed since … well, probably since Day 1 of the annoying nav bar telling me about new notifications and distracting me from whatever I really intended to do.
Just moments ago, I linked it to an annoying bug I’ve been experiencing in Gmail. It turns out this extension also blocks links from within the emails from G+ updating you on comments people make on your content or replying to your comments.
I’ve decided to keep using the extension anyways, because the annoyance of being distracted by bright orange digits (which move, and catch the eye, grr!) far exceeds the annoyance of not having functioning links in emails that would only serve to distract me anyways.
I would much prefer it if Google made it possible to customize the look of the notifier… and remove it from non-plus pages. When I want to be in Plus, I will go there. I feel the same about facebook and twitter. Grrr.
