If you run IE8 or IE9 for the first time after install or reset Internet Explorer settings, then Internet Explorer’s first run or welcome screen appears asking you to configure search and accelerator settings, this can be annoying, here is how to disable IE8 or IE9’s first run screen.
Disabling IE8 or IE 9 first Run or Welcome setup Screen
1. Open Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in run command box and press enter.
2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates >Windows Components > Internet Explorer
3. Double click on Prevent Performance of First Run Customize Settings and select “Enabled” and under Options, select “Go Directly to Homepage” as your choice, click ‘Apply’ and followed by OK to save settings.
4. Close the Group Policy Editor.
This doesn’t work in XP SP3. there is no group policy editor. Any other suggestions?
Thx,
John
