We already covered how to install Chrome and Firefox add-ons manually,of course we also covered install & uninstall of extensions for opera .Opera extensions can be made of CSS,HTML and JavaScript.Do you know Opera extension file is of OEX format, where as Chrome extension file is CRX and Firefox add-on’s extension is XPI.
This is another way of installing Opera extension which can be helpful when you are unable to install extension directly from Opera extensions site.
Manually Installing Opera extensions using OEX file
1.Visit Opera extensions site, right click on “Install” link of add-on
2. Click “Save Linked Content as” and click Save to your Computer with default extension file name.
3.Now drag and drop Opera extension file to Opera address bar, Opera asks to install the extension, install it.
can anybody force opera oex extension towork with firefox? especially ImgTip
Doesnt work. It just shows the path in the urlbar.
Same here. It does not respond at all to the dragged .oex file. Can somebody pleas explain?
Not very helpful Venkat… like with the others here, that method doesn’t work! Dragging the .oex file in the address bar and trying to load it doesn’t do anything.
Why is it so damn hard to install an extension in Opera is beyond me…
Moving back to Firefox…. sorry.
doesn’t work, what to be done..
Is it possible to install oex files on Opera mobile? Thanks in advance.
