After activating Gmail Priority inbox it does show important messages in “Important and unread” section, Priority inbox shows not important messages under “Everything else” section. sometimes if priority inbox marks an important message as not important and throws in Everything else section you need to mark that message as important, this way you need to train priority inbox. If you thought why do I need all this stuff and want to use old Gmail inbox then you can disable priority inbox in Gmail, here is how.
To disable Priority inbox in Gmail
- Go to Settings , click Priority Inbox tab
- Opposite to “show Priority inbox show” , select Do not show Priority Inbox.
- Click “Save Changes”.
That’s it Gmail Priority inbox is disabled.
To show Priority inbox in Gmail again go to Settings >Priority Inbox tab>select Show Priority inbox, and save changes.
This doesn’t seem to work anymore. Do you know a way to disable Priority Inbox in the latest version of gmail?
Ah, I found it… now it’s under a settings section called “Inbox”. I was able to change “Inbox type” to “Classic” and turn off priority markers.
A little more clarification:
They’ve changed it. They’re not using the word “Priority” any more.
Go to: Mail Settings (Gear Icon in upper R corner of Main Gmail page)
Select: Inbox
Under “Importance Markers, Select: “No Markers”
Scroll down, and click: “Save Changes” !!
