How to Type Indian Rupee Symbol from your Keyboard on your Computer

Recently, Indian Government has released Indian rupee symbol, so you need to use this symbol rather than just typing Rs. whenever you need to mention Indian currency. Foradian technologies created an Indian rupee font, which you can download and install on your Computer. Lets see how to use Indian rupee font to show Indian rupee symbol using your keyboard in your Computer.

Installing Indian Rupee Font in your Computer

Download Indian Rupee font.rtf to your Computer from Foradian technologies blog and click “save” button to save the font to your Computer.

Now copy the Indian Rupee font and paste it in Fonts folder.

How to type Indian Rupee symbol on your computer to show it in Microsoft Office Applications and in other text editors

Indian rupee symbol in Excel

1. To type Indian rupee symbol, open Ms Word

2. Change font from ‘Times New Roman’ to ‘Rupee Foradian’, select the ‘Font size’ and click ‘OK’ to save the changes.

3. Now hit ~ key below the Esc button on the  keyboard to get Indian Rupee symbol in Ms Word , you have to do similarly in Notepad and other applications also.

    thanks for yr guidance and this method is not supporting in excel sheet

      Install Indian Rupee font again this time from the Fonts folder.It will work you.You will need to choose Rupee Foradian font and then hit ~ key .
      I also updated the post and added the screenshot of Indian rupee symbol in MS Excel.

    In excel the rupee font needs to be typed in separate
    column which looks funny. Is there any other way
    so that the rupee symbol can be selected from
    format cell>number > currency > symbol combo box ?
