I use SnagIt for Image editing which makes it easier for blogging as I’m not skilled at using Photoshop. By default in Windows, MS Paint is set as the default image editor which will open whenever you select or edit by right clicking on the image.
As Windows Picture and Fax Viewer will be the default image viewer, we can make SnagIt as the default Image editor very easily with a slight modification to the registry.
For this we need to edit the registry, it is always recommended to backup your registry before modifying any registry entries.

To set SnagIt as the default image editor
1. Open the Registry Editor by typing “regedit” in Start menu.
2. Search for “SystemFileAssociations “ in registry or navigate to “HKEY_CLASSSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell” and select “edit” in the left pane, you can notice MSPaint being set as the default image editor.

3. Now copy the path of program which you want to set as default image editor and paste it in place of MSPaint program path in between quotes.
Here I want to set SnagIt as default Image editor, that’s why I copied SnagIt’s path ( C:\Program Files\TechSmith\SnagIt 8\SnagIt32.exe)and pasted in between quotes as shown below in figure.
Close all expanded entries in the registry and restart Windows. From now on whenever you right click and select “Edit” that image will be opened in SnagIt For Editing. Happy image editing..
