Work around to Run DOS Programs in Vista 64-bit PC

Last updated on November 22, 2009 By Venkat

I am going to buy Lenovo laptop, in this laptop they are giving 64 Bit Windows Vista OS , my doubt is can I run dos programs in this laptop or not –mallik .

It is true that Windows Vista 64 bit does not support 16-bit dos programs. But these dos programs do run in 32 bit of Windows Vista.Even some DOS programs will not run in full screen in Vista 32 bit either. The reason is Vista device drivers does not support to run all dos video modes. The work around to this installing video drivers supporting Windows XP in your laptop.

You can use DosBox emulator to run DOS Programs in 32 bit or 64-bit. Having said it’s better for you to move to 32 bit of Vista .
