Microsoft released cumulative security update of ActiveX kill Bits for vulnerability in Microsoft Video ActiveX Control. Microsoft was working on the patch for the vulanarability till now and they released today.The vulnerability is rated is critical by Microsoft.
Here is the description of that vulnerability according to Microsoft.
“ A remote code execution vulnerability exists in the Microsoft video ActiveX control ,msvidctl.dll .An attacker could exploit the vulnbarability by constructing a specially crafted webpage .When a user views the webpage ,the vulnerability could allow remote code execution.An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnarability could gain same user rights as the logged on user”.
This critical vulnerability affects majorly Windows XP sp2 and sp3 and Windows 2003 server operating systems,impact of it is none on vista.This security update puts a kill bit on vulnerability so that vulnerability control wont’ run in Internet Explorer.
