If you don’t know about twitter,it is a popular micro blogging service that allows to send messages to friends, followers and relatives with a text of 140 characters. As twitter is getting more popular, more people are using it.
So, most of twitter users don’t like twitter to go outage. When twitter goes down, what they do is to check it is down for them or to all. There are online apps for this to tell you is twitter down or not.
1.istwitterdow : Is Twitter down tells you status of twitter outage in simple Yes or No words.
2.isthisdown : isthisdown tells you whether a website is down for everyone or just to you only. So you can check twitter is up or down with this website.

Your blog says Twitter is not down, but the http://istwitterdown.com/ keeps saying it is down. Plus at the end of your blog it reads that twitter.com is only down for me, which is also not true since the entire site is down.
I am curious to know how you are getting Twitter status that shows the Twitter is up.

This post posted quite long ago when twitter is up:) just check the home page of my blog for new udpates on twitter,my blog template doesn't support showing date on published post.Just hit home page button and enjoy the latest updates.
You can also check http://www.istwitterbroken.com for news, even when Twitter is "sort of" down or broken, these guys update the site status. It also has feeds so you can get the status right quick, if you want, during the next crisis. Not as fun with the links to Amazon music albums, though.

Thnaks for letting me know about this, But it is more to show how long from twiter is up rather than it is not conclusive to say twiter is down.
The sites you mentioned will detect Twitter outages in many cases, but they seem to rely entirely on ping tests. That won't help you when the Twitter web site is online but serving an error page (such as the fail whale).

It seems there are too many services tracking twiter downtime rather than uptime :) many ways now for twitter users to know twitter is down or not.

Yeah, all of the "IsTwitterDown" sites are reporting that Twitter is currently up. Link direct–down. Tweetdeck–down. ISTHISUP–down.
So WTF are the "IsTwitterDown" sites reporting off of? Even status.twitter.com is happily reporting the site is up, but the site is DOWN.

it checks from multiple locations, unlike the site you mention.

I get NO!, but twitter is downd now. I can't get on it using my iMac, I thought I was blocked 'cause I was testing out a practice twitter app on the iPhone simulator on the iMac.
So I tried on my iPhone using AT&T's service, but the page still won't load.
So I'm assuming twitter is down.
