Recently, Twitch desktop app’s stable version has been released and available for download for Windows and Mac Platforms. If Twitch listed in Control Panel’s Programs, then you can uninstall it like any other application. But that’s not the case. When we installed the app for the first time on our computer, it was not listed in the installed programs list when we wanted to uninstall it.
The directory Twitch gets installed [C:\Users\[username]\AppData\roaming] does offer uninstaller with name UninstallTwitch under Bin sub-directory, but running it produced ‘uninstallation error: ‘Installation information could not be located in the system registry. You may need to manually remove this application’.
Removing Twitch manual way using IObit Uninstaller
We’ve to use IObit’ Uninstaller’s Forced uninstall tool to point Twitch folder and also remove leftover entries of it. For this, enter %appdata\Twitch command in explorer or run dialog, click on Roaming, select and drag and drop Twitch folder onto Forced Uninstall window, proceed with Twitch removal.
But for the second time, when we installed Twitch with the same setup file, we have been able to uninstall it successfully. So we were unable to reproduce the issue next time.
Note: Before attempting for Twitch uninstall, ensure the app is not running, for that, right click on its icon in the system tray and choose Exit and then proceed, otherwise you may get an error.
So what’s your story? Have you seen an entry in the Control Panel for Twitch? Let us know.
