When you install Panda Free Antivirus 18.0 and if you won’t pay attention during its installation, along with the antivirus, Panda Safe Web will also be installed on your computer and it will be set as default search engine and default home page in browsers. As a result, the Panda Safe Web extension will be added to browsers like Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox (as a toolbar) and Vivaldi browsers.
When you launch Chrome, or Internet Explorer, the browser prompts you to enable the Safe Web extension. Though the extension provides benefits to users in a web browser by showing safety ratings for websites you visit and offers phishing protection, but it changes browser search settings to pandasecurity.mystart.com (powered by Yahoo).
The unwanted browser search and home page changes by a software or extension, considered as malicious even though Panda software’s free av product warned about these changes during the installation.
Uninstalling or removing Panda Safe Web from computer and browsers
1. Ensure all browsers are closed, open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
2. Select Panda Safe Web, and click Uninstall, and follow the instructions appear on the screen.

3. When completing the Panda Safe Web uninstall dialog appears, check ‘ Uninstall Panda Security URL Filtering’ and click ‘Finish’, and restart your computer.
4. Now visit chrome://extensions and vivaldi://extensions pages in respective browsers, and remove the Panda Safe Web extension.
Do the below things after that.
Clear history of Web browsers, visit affected browser options and reset the homepage to default.
Visit Internet Explorer, in Manage Add-ons > Search Providers, select ‘Search the Web’ and remove it.
Perform a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, followed by Malwarebytes Adwcleaner and remove the threats found, when prompted to restart your computer, do so.
