Know how to turn off Opera’s built-in RSS Reader notifications. Opera‘s built-in RSS Reader in Personal news is shaping up quite well, recently with Opera 42 dev update, Opera Software has started showing RSS notifications, i.e. whenever new content is detected in ‘My Sources’, a blue dot notification will appear over the newspaper icon in the start page (check the screenshot below), you can click on it and read the new stories in the news.

If you don’t want the blue dot to appear over newspaper icon, you’ve to disable RSS notifications, here is how you can do that.

Disabling Opera’s RSS notifications

1. Click on the Menu and select Settings (Alt+P on Windows)

2. Click on Browser, scroll down and under Personal news, click on drop down and select ‘never‘ for ‘Check my sources for new content’
