When you try to uninstall Avast from your computer, uninstall process starts, but it gets stuck at creating system restore point, this may take a while (check the screenshot below) and doesn’t progress further, you can’t cancel or abort the process by clicking on the close button in the  setup dialog,  let us see how to fix this.

1. Open the task manager and kill instup.exe process, if running.

2. Now download Avast clear, restart your computer in safe mode and run it.

3. Select Avast installation directory, the installation data directory and the version you’ve installed, if you’re not sure about these, leave the boxes unchanged, and click on ‘continue’

4. When prompted to restart your computer, do it.
