When you install Cheetah Mobiles’ Clean Master for PC on your computer, you can notice its processes cmcore.exe and cmtray.exe running under the processes tab in Task Manager. While latter one goes away or doesn’t appear when the application is not running, but the former one cmcore.exe keeps running in the background from the startup without relating to the functioning of Clean Master, let us see how we can disable this.

Disabling cmcore.exe of Clean Master from running in Startup

1. Open the run command and type services.msc, and press enter

2. Once the Services window opens, find Clean Master Core Service, double click on it to open its properties dialog, on its General tab, set Startup type to ‘Disabled’ from ‘Automatic’.

3. Click ‘OK’ to apply the changes.

Bonus: Clean Master automatically shows a notification on startup how much disk space you can gain by running it, this notification can be disabled, here is how: open its Settings > Notify Settings, click on the green square for ‘Scan junk files after booting your computer’.
