What is FAHWindow.exe? To which program it belongs to and how to remove it from your computer. When you install WinZip on your computer, it installs File Association Helper component and you can see it’s process FAHwindow.exe constantly running under the Processes tab in the Task Manager. Update: Uninstalling WinZip now removes this.
Before that, navigate to ‘C:\Program Files\File Association Helper’, select and right click on ‘FAHWindow’ and select ‘Properties’, click on ‘Digital Signatures’ tab, you should see the name of signer as ‘WinZip Computing LLC’.
1. Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select ‘File Association Helper’ and click on ‘Uninstall’ button.
2. When Windows asks for a confirmation, click ‘Yes’, you may need to restart your computer for the uninstall process to finish.
Note: Uninstalling FAHWindow no way affects the functioning of already installed WinZip on your computer.
UPDATE: Latest versions of WinZip include File Association Helper (this is more of a PUP) without offering the uninstaller, if you want to use WinZip, you can able to disable FAH from running on startup using the System configuration utility (msconfig).
Disabling File Association Helper
1. Open run dialog, type msconfig and press enter
2. Visit Startup tab, select File Association Helper and click ‘Disable’ button.
