First beta for Avast 2015 products has been released and available for download. Avast Free Antivirus 2015 Beta is available with Home Network Security, Smart Scan and HTTPS scanning features. Interface not changed much (check its screenshot below), it stayed the same as of Avast 2014.
Avast Free Antivirus 2015 Beta
Home Network Security is a new security feature available in Tools, scans your home network for vulnerabilities in, for example WiFi status, connected devices and router settings. This feature scans for router devices too on your network.
Update: Avast 2015 final version released, visit this link.
Smart Scan, which is available in the status screen has been integrated with on-demand scanning tools such as Software Updater, Grime Fighter, Home Network Security, Browser Cleanup.
Since Smart Scan performs many actions – its scans for viruses and malware, update status of software, problems in your network , grime – hence, it takes more time to finish the scan and show the results.
HTTPS Scanning: Web Shield in Avast Antivirus now scans of HTTPS traffic, currently supports Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome browsers.
“This feature will protect you against viruses coming through HTTPs traffic as well as adding compatibility for SPDY+HTTPS/ HTTP 2.0 traffic.” Avast’s sedina said in forum on SSL scanning feature.
1 .You can turn off/on HTTPS scanning in Web Shield Settings.
For that, you need to navigate through UI>Settings>Active Protection, click on ‘Customize’ for ‘Web Shield’
2. And remove tick mark for ‘Enable HTTPS Scanning’ under Main Settings, and click ‘OK’ to apply the changes.
Other notable changes are: Since Google is not allowing multi-purpose extensions in their browser, Avast has removed Safe Price from online Security Chrome extension and offered as a separate one, yes! Avast Safe Price will also be installed in Chrome, if you allow it. You can always remove it from the extensions page.
