New beta for Avast is available for download and testing, final will be available by the end of June. Avast 2014 R4 Beta with build number 9.0.2019 has added “resume” support for setup component for smoother downloading of Program update. Avast Premium and Internet Security version users can now have the option to disable popup offers shown for other avast products in Appearance under Settings.
Pavels, Avast programmer said in a post in forum (Avast forum has been relaunched after the hack) “We’ve added ability to disable promotion popups (in PRO/IS/Premier editions). We strongly believe that our additional products can be valuable for you, but we also respect your will not to be bothered by such offers.”
Free version users don’t worry, you can’t disable them for sure, but you can still minimize the popups display shown time by setting the duration time to 2 seconds or less (default is 20 seconds).
New: If your OS drive has low disk space or if you’ve not got the admin rights then Avast shows corresponding warnings for it during the installation.
This is more of a bug fix release, nothing significant has been included in this version.
Caution: Watch out! Avast installer installs Dropbox if you don’t pay attention, uncheck the tick box for it at the bottom of the welcome screen. If you’ve already Dropbox installed in your computer, this option may not be shown.
