Recently Avira has launched Avira Online Essentials, a security platform that allows users to install Avira products and services on multiple devices, we’ve covered how to uninstall it also. Now, Avira Protection Cloud, one of the integral components of Avira Premium products of 2013 and 2014 has been integrated into Avira Free Antivirus 2014. Latest version update 18.104.22.1688 brought this change with the inclusion of Avira Intelligent Repair system (AIRS).
How to disable Avira Protection Cloud?
If you’re not aware of Protection Cloud: it is a feature, once enabled sends digital fingerprints of all suspicious executable files (not documents) detected on your PC securely to cloud for review, once analysis completes, its status as clean, malicious or unknown is identified and informed to the Avira desktop application. If file is detected as malware it will be removed by Avira on your PC.
If you’re concerned about your Privacy, you can disable it, follow the instructions below.
1. Open Avira Free Antivirus interface, click on Extras>Configuration (F8)
2. General>Advanced Protection, uncheck or remove tick mark for ‘Enable Protection Cloud’
3. Click ‘Ok’ to apply the changes.
Note: The Option to opt-out install of Protection Cloud appears during the setup when you choose an installation type or when you select custom setup. Make sure to select latter one to avoid install of the Avira SearchFree Toolbar and other unwanted changes from being made to search engine and homepages of popular browsers.
Avira Intelligent Repair System
Another new feature included in this version is Avira Intelligent Repair System, "AIRS is a refactoring and improvement of the current repair functionality in all Avira Windows products. AIRS will change the repair that it corresponds to current technology of malware and we are also able to react faster in repair and removal issues to clean up the infected users."
