When you install Bing Bar aka Bing Toolbar in your computer, it will be installed for Internet Explorer, and you can notice processes related to it running in Task Manager under Processes tab when IE is open, they’ll vanish once you close Microsoft browser. Those processes are: Bingsurrograte.exe, BingBar.exe and BingApp.exe.
You can see multiple instances of BingSurrogate.exe running, this process is related to Bing Search engine and runs from location ‘C:\Program Files\Microsoft\BingBar\[version number]’. Another change that happens with install of Bing Bar is: Bing will be set as default search provider for Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer browsers.
Disable or remove Bingsurrogate.exe
I. Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools>Manage Add-ons>Toolbars and Extensions, select ‘Bing Bar’ and ‘Bing Bar Helper’ add-ons and disable them one by one.
II. Or uninstalling Bing Bar from Control Panel removes this process and also the toolbar of Bing, here is how that can be done.
Open Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Select ‘Bing Bar’ and click ‘Uninstall’ button and follow instructions on screen.
