Avast has recently acquired Jumpshot PC optimization and cleaning service, they’ve now  integrated it into their products interface in Avast 2014 R2 beta and released with name ‘GrimeFigher’. This beta is available for download with other new features such as Stream Filtering, Saveprice and Avast Tutorial. 

What is Avast GrimeFighter?

Avast not doing different to other security vendors, for example AVG bought Tuneup Utilities and released it with their brand name as AVG PC Tuneup– you can also see its notifications in AVG Free antivirus as well. Now Avast wants to make some money with recently bought Jumpshot, they following same approach of AVG’s .

GrimeFighter is PC optimization and cleanup utility designed to remove bloatware and other junk and promises to speed up your computer when you click ‘Optimize my PC’ that appears at the bottom on Status window of Avast UI’.

When you install Avast, Minion appear on UI saying it has found grime on your PC and informs about number of bloatware programs it detected, system registry tweaks necessary to speed up your PC and disk space you can free up by clicking ‘Optimize my PC ‘. 

Avast GrimeFighter

Avast’s Pavels says in a thread" GrimeFighter — performs a scan to identify ways to speed up, clean up, and better protect your PC.  GrimeFighter will run the scan and show you where you can improve the performance of your PC.  It then sedates your PC and performs all of the cleaning functions. "

Don’t run this feature on Windows 8/8.1 which can lead your PC into issues.

Avast SavePrice is new function integrated into Avast Online Security Plugin not enabled by default, "it helps you save money when you are shopping online. It finds better prices for items you are searching for". SavePrice is currently supported in Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers. Internet Explorer browser supported will be added in future.
