Stable or final version 1.75 for Malwarebytes anti-malware has been released and available for download. This release has added ability to scan with in archives to the program.
How to Check Archive Scanning is enabled in MBAM or not?: If you’ve upgraded to either free or PRO version of MBAM 1.75 then launch the program. And on its interface click on “Settings” tab, and further click on “scanner settings” where you can see “Enable scanning inside archives” option being set to enabled. You can toggle this option if you want but it is recommended to leave it as it is.
How Malwarebytes scans for infections inside archives?
Archives for instance when you download a zip file from untrusted sources they can contain viruses, MABM 1.75 version can scan for infections with in archives and quarantines entire zip file automatically if any infection or virus found for an individual file, you can able to remove that zip file/archive from “Quarantine” tab.
Currently larger archives won’t be scanned by MBAM and we don’t know the maximum archive file size MBAM supports at present either.
MBAM supported Archive types are: RAR, ZIP, 7z, CAB and MSI and Self extracting executable (SFX) files being supported are: 7z, ZIP, RAR and NSIS.
