If you save captured images from Snagit to your hard drive, that’s fine, in case if you forgot to save them this is the article that tells you where to find them on your computer. Even though if you don’t save captures, Snagit automatically stores them to its DataStore folder. So you can visit that folder and save unsaved captures to regularly saved directory on your system.

Finding location of Unsaved captures of Snagit

Paste the below path in the Run dialog box on your Windows OS.

In Windows XP:  C:\Documents and Settings\<User name>\Local Settings\Application Data\TechSmith\SnagIt\DataStore

In Windows Vista/ 7/ 8 and Windows 10: %LOCALAPPDATA%\TechSmith\SnagIt\DataStore

Snagit stores unsaved captures to datastore folder by default in .SNAG format

DataStore folder contains images with SNAG extension format, so you need to open them in Snagit editor and save in a desired image format such as PNG or JPEG.

For instance, to set the DataStore folder to a custom folder you wan in Snagit 13, open Snagit Editor, File > Editor Preferences > Library,

Click folder icon for ‘Library location’ to browser and set.
