If you save captured images from Snagit to your hard drive, that’s fine, in case if you forgot to save them this is the article that tells you where to find them in your computer. Even though if you don’t save captures, Snagit automatically stores them to its DataStore folder. So you can visit that folder and save unsaved captures to regularly saved directory on your Computer.

Finding location of Unsaved captures of Snagit

Use Run command to navigate to the below mentioned path on your Windows OS.

In Windows XP:  C:\Documents and Settings\User name \Local Settings\Application Data\TechSmith\SnagIt\DataStore

In Windows Vista, 7 and Windows 8  C:\Users\venkat\AppData\Local\TechSmith\Snagit\DataStore

Update: Snagit 12 or later versions lets you change Snagit’s automatic stored files location to the desired one you want, for more details read:  Snagit 12.2 Update adds Light Theme Option for the Editor, improves Scrolling Capture

DataStore folder contains images with SNAG extension format, so you need to open them in Snagit editor and save in desired image format such PNG or JPEG.
