Version 2.2 for light weight PDF Reader Sumatra PDF has been released and available for download. This version adds support for fictionbook ebook format and allows you to open Acrobat x encrypted PDF documents.
What’s new in Sumatra PDF 2.2
- Adds support for FictionBook ebook format.
- Adds support for PDF documents encrypted with Acrobat X.
- “Print as image” compatibility option in print dialog for documents that fail to print properly.
- New command-line option: -manga-mode [1|true|0|false] for proper display of manga comic books.
- Many robustness fixes and small improvements.
Sumatra PDF works on Windows XP/Vista/7 and is available in both installer and portable versions, you can download latest version from here.

why on earth would people want a pdf reader when its built into windows 8 and there’s the Adobe for everything else. Coming up with a product is good, choices are welcomed, but not crowding the space
How many people use Windows 8 and let me tell you Windows Reader Windows 8 offers opens only as metro app, and Adobe PDF Reader has always vulnerabilities and other PDF Readers are bloatware, Sumatra PDF reader is PDF Reader doesn’t consumes resources and best for basic PDF needs like opening and reading and it is not new one existed from 2006.
Browsers too offering PDF Readers, Firefox (not available in release channel) and Chrome.
