Amazon has released Send to Kindle extension for Firefox which is now available for download on Mozilla add-ons gallery. Send to Kindle already available for Chrome browser and support for Safari is coming soon in near future. If you’ve got a Kindle e-Reader device you can now send web content in Firefox to that device by installing Send to Kindle extension. Once you installed this extension its icon appears on top right-side of browser which you can use to click and access options provided to send content to Kindle.

Options to Send web content from Firefox to Kindle are

Send to Kindle: Sends the content of web page to your Kindle account.

Preview and Send: You can preview the content before sending to Kindle.

Send Selected Text: You can send Selected text on webpage to Kindle.

Whenever you want to pass an article to Kindle to read click on Kindle icon and select Sending option and you’re done. Amazon strips out distracting elements like menus, ads etc. from web page and sends content to your kindle in reader-friendly format which you can see offline without any clutter.

Keyboard shortcuts for Send to Kindle

If you’re a power user, save mouse clicks by using keyboard shortcuts offered for this extension. Use  Alt+ k to Send and Alt +P to preview content before sending to Kindle.

You can change these keyboard shortcuts any time by clicking on Extension options, you need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

If you’ve not found kindle icon on Firefox after install it might be hidden, select and drag it to toolbar by selecting Firefox menu>options>Toolbar layout.

You can track web article URLs send to Kindle by clicking on “History” option showed on Kindle icon. This extension works from Firefox 6 + onwards.
