Recently we’ve covered the release of Microsoft .NET framework repair tool which fixes .NET installations on your Computer and there was already one tool exists from Microsoft named .NET Framework Setup verification tool which instead verifies install state of .NET framework products installed on your system and reports it status at the end for .NET framework version chosen by you. This tool has been updated with addition of support for .NET framework 4.5 and Windows 8.
IF you don’t know- Windows 7 comes with .NET framework 3.5 by default and Windows 8 comes with .NET framework 4.5 installed by default, it is .NET 3.5 don’t enabled on Windows 8 Windows prompts to download necessary files via Windows Update when users run apps developed on .NET 3.5, we’ve covered how to enable .NET 3.5.1 on Windows 8. Since final versions of .NET 4.5 and Windows 8 not released this tool adds preliminary support for them.
Using .NET Framework Setup verification tool on Windows 8
Download the Program zip file and extract its contents to a folder and run “netfx_setupverifier” app, on running this tool lets you know the .NET framework versions installed on your Computer, you can view them from drop down.
Select .NET framework 4.5 and click “verify now” button this tool now “verify(is) the presence of files, directories, registry keys and values for the .NET Framework. It will also verify that simple applications that use the .NET Framework can be run correctly”.
If everything is fine you’ll get “product verification succeeded!” message at the end, if you get any error you need to troubleshoot the issues using the log file created by the tool by clicking “View Log “. Here you can also use .NET framework repair tool to troubleshoot the .NET issues.
