Mozilla plans to disable this feature on Aurora and nightly builds on February 16th. You can still enable it by setting below said preferences to below said values by visiting about:config page  – ‘browser.newtab.URL’ to ‘about:newtab’ and ‘browser.newtabpage.enabled’  to true.

You can reset and hide the new tab page by clicking on icons shown on top-right corner of the page. For us, it generated empty thumbnails with titles, still a long way to go. Share your experience with Firefox upcoming new tab page.

You can download Aurora channel from here.
