We all know Chrome supports desktop notifications for Chrome extensions and for apps like Gmail, let’s talk about Gmail notification system in Chrome: whenever you sign into Gmail, a desktop notification will be displayed at the bottom as a pop -up if a new chat message or new mail arrives, Firefox doesn’t support this feature even though Mozilla talks more about HTML5, don’t Worry! You can add this feature with HTML Desktop Notifications Firefox extension, which provides each web page an API by Google Chrome.
Using HTML Desktop Notifications
Download and install the add-on and restart Firefox browser. Now sign in to Gmail with your user name and password, click on “click here to enable desktop notifications for Gmail “, Gmail asks the permission to show desktop notifications, allow it.
Chat Notifications will be enabled, you can enable email notifications via the settings page by selecting either “new mail notifications on” or “important mail notifications on”.
We found only chat notifications working but not the email notifications, once you receive a chat notification, you can ignore that message or from the options select “disable notifications for mail.google.com” or click on Global options to open HTML5 Notifications settings of that add-on.
