Few days back we’ve covered how to view all installed apps and metro apps that came with Windows 8 from the Metro start screen, how about viewing and opening metro apps from conventional desktop: certainly useful if you’ve disabled Metro UI.

If you’ don’t know, there is an “Applications” folder  hidden in Program files by default, which Windows doesn’t allow you for access. Anyhow, we can access that hidden and restricted Apps folder with a trick from the desktop.

applications folder

Create a New Folder on desktop and rename it to “ Applications.{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}” (without quotes), now open Applications folder you just created on the desktop which contains all apps along with metro style ones.

You can open any metro app from this folder directly without the need of Metro Start Screen.
