How to disable Automatic Updates of Adobe Reader X

Adobe boasted about protected mode in Adobe Reader X and not added any significant new features to its free PDF Reader. IF you’re unable to download and install Adobe Reader X we’ve  covered offline installer for Adobe Reader X . By default, updates for Adobe Reader X will be downloaded and with your consent they will be installed after restart of your Computer. If you don’t want Adobe to download or install updates, you can disable automatic updates for Adobe Reader X , here is how.

Disable Updates for Adobe Reader X

1. Open Adobe Reader X, from Edit Menu click Preferences,

2.  Select “Updater” category on the left pane, select “Do not Download or install updates automatically”.

3. Click OK to save changes.

If someone is concerned about security, why would they disable automatic updates which are coming out to improve security?!?

Because some enterprises dont allow users to install software and they mange updates to application thru applications such as SCCM etc.

I’ve used acrobat X crack version, but some books cann’t save as my bookmarks and comments. There will display me ” The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (110) “, how to solve this problem…Please advise me….

@leonard also because Adobe apparently doesn’t test their releases on all platforms and the updates are killing the reader for some users. I need this option, and am glad for the info. For me the initial install works but after the automatic update it no longer opens regularly, doesn’t give errors, and if it does open it can’t print. This is happening on pre-windows 7 machines, only.
