Microsoft is providing free anti-malware, Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) to genuine Windows users using XP, Vista and Windows 7. MSE will offer real-time protection against threats and basic protection much like to AVG, Avast and Avira antivirus. The Software giant has released a Fix It tool to completely remove Microsoft Security Essentials.

Apart from releasing the Fix It Tool, Microsoft has also added support article to their knowledge base on how to manually uninstall its security software limited to Windows 7 and older versions, from your systems.

MSE Update Utility: Update Microsoft Security Essentials Without need of Windows Update

If you are unable to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials from Add or Remove Programs in XP or from Programs and Features in Windows Vista /7 from in Control Panel, then only you should use the manual uninstall method or Fix It tool offered by Microsoft.
