Windows Live Writer, part of Windows Essentials 2012 ( no longer supported by Microsoft), is still used by lot of website owners to publish posts to their blog (powered by Blogger or WordPress). Windows Live Writer supports these blog services: WordPress, Blogger, TypePad and more.

Setting up Windows Live Writer for WordPress or Blogger blog

1. Download and install Live Writer on your computer and run it

2. Choose the  blog service displayed in the dialog from: create a new blog, WordPress, Sharepoint, and other services (Blogger, TypePad and more), and click “Next’

3. Enter your site name, username and password credentials and click ‘Next’

Windows Live Writer shows “Recover unsaved changes?” dialog on Startup [Reason & Fix]

4. Live Writer Tool analyzes blog homepage web address, contents, publishing interface, and detects blog settings, categories, character set, and asks to download blog theme by publishing a test post, which will be removed automatically after retrieving your theme, this helps to preview your blog posts while editing online

Done, that’s it! You can now write posts for your blogger or WordPress Site and publish.
